What are binaural beats?
Binaural beats are an auditory effect created when each ear receives a steady tone at a slightly different frequency. Through headphones, the difference can be perceived as a gentle rhythmic pulse.
A simple example
Imagine hearing a 200 Hz tone in your left ear and a 208 Hz tone in your right ear. The frequency difference is 8 Hz. The perceived 8 Hz rhythm is called a binaural beat. Headphones are important because the ears need separate signals.
Why do people listen to them?
People explore binaural beats as part of meditation, relaxation, focus and sleep routines. Frequency ranges such as delta, theta, alpha and beta are often discussed alongside different states of attention and rest. However, the evidence for reliably producing specific mental or health outcomes is mixed, and personal experiences vary.
How does BinauraWave use binaural beats?
BinauraWave began as a way to build more flexible binaural sessions. Today, it is a broader audio Studio: you can arrange guided recordings, pauses, layered sounds and optional binaural beats on a timeline.
Create a gentle binaural sound session on its own, or use binaural layers alongside audio files stored on your device. Binaural beats are optional — they do not need to be part of every project.
Getting started safely
- Use headphones if you want the binaural effect.
- Keep the volume comfortable and begin quietly.
- Stop listening if you feel discomfort.
- Do not use audio sessions while driving or when attention is needed for safety.
- If you have concerns about sound sensitivity or neurological conditions, seek appropriate professional advice.
Can binaural beats treat medical conditions?
BinauraWave does not diagnose, treat or cure medical conditions. Binaural beats should not replace professional care or evidence-based treatment.
More than binaural beats
If you already have recorded inductions, guided exercises, narration or background sounds, the Studio lets you combine them into complete listening sessions. You can work locally first, without creating an account.
